For the first installment in this collection I interviewed Stina Mulloo-Cannon from Juste Nature on her natural skincare range.
Her Unscented All In One Moisturising Balm is a finalist in the Free From Skincare Awards in the Family Skincare Category.
I am Stina, a fashion designer and natural skincare formulator and mom of 2 boys.
I create and formulate natural and organic skincare for sensitive/ dry and eczema prone skin.
I also use my design background to create Beautiful Eco Friendly Gift Sets.
What inspired you to work in your chosen profession?
My son’s years of struggle with his eczema and dry skin was the reason why I started my natural skincare formulations.
His medicated emolients and creams were not working on his dry skin and it was a constant battle. I was also concerned about the amount of preservatives included and wanted a more natural solution.
While we cannot avoid preservatives in all of our products, I wanted a natural and preservatives free daily family skincare that we could all use.
My All-In-One Moisturising Balm was my first product that is now my best seller.
Name a person or business that you admire or inspires you?
I admire Oprah Winfrey, her struggles and pain became her drive to make her life better and help others. She became the woman she wanted to be and uses her voice and platform to inspire other women.
What is the best piece of advice you have been given?
"Do it with Love, Trust Yourself and start anywhere; the rest will follow."
What is your biggest success story or proudest moment in your career so far.
The photo reviews I get from my customers after using my All-In-One Moisturising Balm on their dry skin has been my proudest moment. It makes me so happy every time!
My aim is to help as many people who struggle with their dry skin, I know the struggles that they face and I know that i can help them.
What has been the biggest challenge running your own business (overall or in the last year!?) and how have you overcome it?
The biggest challenge was being present for my family as well as my business during lockdown when I launched my business.
There were times when it all got too much, especially when trying to do it all and fast while homeschooling my boys.
I now understand that this is a journey and we’re all doing it in our own way. We can slow down and still get things done. And some things can wait.
What would be your dream commission/ project?
My dream project or plan is to include more of my design projects into my brand. Maybe eventually homeware/ lifestyle brand in the future.
It is so important to choose our skincare consciously. By informing ourselves first, reading about the ingredients and what they mean- a simple google check; as well as looking at how eco friendly the brand is. Our conscious decisions will have an impact on the planet and our future.
