About Sarah

Sarah Dunbar is a designer creating contemporary, abstract prints originating from her own photographs and artwork.

In July 2018, I launched my debut collection of handmade faux leather pouches, inspired by my love of colour, art and nature. Since then I have grown my range to include cushion covers, tote bags, cotton makeup bags, accessories and soon fabric by the meter.

I design all my accessories in my home studio based in beautiful Gloucestershire, where I live with my husband and 1 year old son. I pride myself that all my products are designed and made in the UK.

My pieces are sold in the National Portrait Gallery (London), National Museum Northern Ireland, Walker Art Gallery in Minneapolis in the USA and over 30+ independent stockists throughout the UK, USA and Europe.

ABOUT THE ART

Each design originates from a photo or artwork created by Sarah. Inspiration from travels around the world or closer to home, including the magical colours of a Cuban sunset, the image of waves crashing on to a Cornish beach, or the sprawling landscapes of the Lake District. These photos or prints are then digitally developed and handcrafted into vibrant accessory products, making each product individual.

LABOUR OF LOVE

I studied design for exhibitions and museums at University before pursuing a professional career project managing exhibitions and events for over a decade.

I have always harboured a desire to create my own line of handmade products and in 2018, I set myself a new challenge and left my permanent job to establish my own design business. I’m focused on creating vibrant designs to handcraft gorgeous accessories for everyday uses.

All the products I make are made from quality fabrics and sourced within the UK, staying true to my values of sustainable and thoughtful production.

SEW FAR, SEW GOOD

I design all the prints myself in my home studio in Gloucestershire. All the pouches are hand sewn by myself and a local seamstress. My other products such as my tote bags and cushion covers are handmade by a company in the north of England.

The whole enterprise is wholly UK based, something I place a lot of value upon.

Please do get in touch if you have any questions, if you have any custom orders or to simply say hello. I would love to hear from you.
